Antonio Cassano’s contract dispute with Sampdoria will have to be resolved by the Italian Football League’s Arbitration Panel on Monday.

Sampdoria have filed a request to the Italian League (Lega Calcio) to rescind the striker´s current deal on grounds of insubordination.

Talks on a settlement in Milan yesterday failed to find an outcome agreeable to both parties with a final decision now placed in the hands of the Lega Calcio.

“A conciliation was not achieved and an arbitrary decision is needed,” said Paolo Giuggioli, president of the Arbitrary Panel.

“We have listened to the testimonies and the instruction has ended. “On Monday at 15.00 there will be a new hearing after which I will announce the verdict.”

Cassano, an Italy international, was dropped from Sampdoria´s squad in October following a heated argument with club president Riccardo Garrone in the dressing room.

The 28-year-old is under contract with Sampdoria until June 2013.

“Antonio has done everything he needed to do,” said Cassano’s lawyer Giuseppe Bozzo.

“He is calm.”

Among the seven witnesses put forward by Samp in today’s hearing, there were five of Cassano’s team-mates including Italy striker Giampaolo Pazzini.

Cassano, who did not turn up to today’s hearing, had no witnesses.

If forced to leave Sampdoria, Cassano would have to find a new club and reports in the Italian media suggest Juventus and defending champions Inter Milan would both be interested in signing him.
