The entire electrical system of the Notarial Archives has been overhauled at a cost of €10,000 donated by Rotary Foundation.

The archives, in St Christopher Street, Valletta, are home to thousands of registered copies of contracts undertaken by notaries, the oldest going back to the 14th century.

The money to change the electrical system was raised together with the Notarial Archive Research Council.

“The notarial archives hold information about the social, legal and political history that reveal priceless information about the customs and culture, not only related to Malta’s past but also the Mediterranean’s,” Lands Parliamentary Secretary Jason Azzopardi said at a press conference.

He was also presented with an extra donation of €1,000 from Rotary Regional Governor Salvatore Lo Curto for other projects.
