The 13th edition of Go Teatru Unplugged was held in a sold-out Manuel Theatre over three nights last weekend.
One of the few performances to have kept their annual appointment with audiences for more than a decade, Go Teatru Unplugged again showcased its trademark selection of rock, pop and alternative acts, offering a blend of established and upcoming acts in one line-up.
The show featured upcoming singer, 12-year-old Megan Balzan, accompanied by pianist Rosetta De Battista; popular band Chasing Pandora; the Renzo Spiteri Terra Project, featuring vocalist Peter Grech; award-winning local band Beige; Glee-inspired choir The Blast, with 27 members aged between 14 and 18; and London-based band Fraser.
It was presented by the entertaining Pawlu Borg Bonaci, frontman for local band Fakawi.
“The formula – six short and diverse sets – seems to work extremely well,” said Go Teatru Unplugged co-producer Jonathan Shaw, who originally dreamt up the concept for the show in 1998 with co-founder Nirvana Azzopardi.
“It has achieved something of a cult following, with a high percentage of repeat guests year on year,” he said.
