Nationalist MP and lawyer Franco Debono yesterday filed a libel suit against the acting editor of The Times Mark Wood and journalist Juan Ameen over an article published a year ago. Dr Debono filed the suit with just nine days to go before the time limit allowed by law on such proceedings would have prevented him from taking action.

The article in question, entitled Absent MP Ducks Under The Radar, published on December 16, was a follow-up to Dr Debono’s decision to walk out of Parliament before a vote was taken on December 14, leaving the government without a majority.

Lawyers Charmaine Cherrett and Marion Camilleri signed the suit.
