The health of former Prime Minister and Labour leader Dom Mintoff has “improved remarkably”, according to his medical team at Mater Dei Hospital.

“His condition is now no longer considered critical,” the team said in a medical bulletin issued by the Hospital yesterday.

Mr Mintoff, 94, has been at Mater Dei for almost a month and, despite his health getting better, he will undergo further rehabilitation in the Critical Coronary Care Unit.

Meanwhile, a room is being prepared for Mr Mintoff at the St Vincent de Paul Home.

Sources said Mr Mintoff still had to give his final go-ahead to be accommodated at the home.
