Obituary
AMATO-GAUCI. On December 3, JOSEPHINE, née Bartolo, of Sliema, passed into eternal life, aged 94, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. Mourning her deeply are her husband Frederick, her children Ann and her husband Torio Gingell Littlejohn, Sandra and her husband Tim Jackson, her grandchildren Christopher and his wife Pippa, Steve and his wife Jennie, Matthew and his wife Sarah, Toby, Olly and his wife Tamsin, Alice, her great grandchildren Roger and Charlie, her devoted carer Flora, other relatives, and many friends. The funeral Mass will be celebrated today at 9.30 a.m. at St Gregory’s parish church, Sliema, followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. BUGEJA. On December 5 at Mater Dei Hospital, GIOVANNA, aged 83, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Carmen and Joe, Cetty and Tony, Miriam, widow of her son Joe, Lilian and Joe, Mary and Tony, Pauline and Salvu, Doris and Charlie, nephew, nieces and other relatives and friends. The funeral cortege will leave Mater Dei Hospital today at 2.30 p.m. and Mass will be held at St Dominic church in Rabat at 3 p.m. followed by interment at Santa Margherita Cemetery in Rabat. No flowers by request but donations to Dar Tal Providenza will be appreciated.

On December 4, MARIA, nèe Borg, of St. Paul’s Bay, passed peacefully away at Karen Grech Hospital, at the age of 78, surrounded by her loving family and comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her great loss her husband Frank, her children David and his wife Monique, Godwin and his wife Karen, Pauline and her husband Mark Gatt, Nathalie and her husband Tonio Vella Bonello and Jacqueline and her husband Philip Camilleri, her grandchildren Davina, Nicholas, Keara, Rebecca, Noeleene, Godwin-Kyle, Luke, Daphne, Daniel, Sarah, Shaun, Dane, Francesca, Julian and Keith, her siblings John, Helen, Phyllis, Jimmy, Doris, Peter and Josephine, her in-laws and their respective families, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Karen Grech Hospital tomorrow Tuesday at 2.45 p.m. for Our Lady of Sorrows Parish Church, St Paul’s Bay, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 3.30 p.m. followed by interment at Ħniena Divina Cemetery, St Paul’s Bay. SALT – VIRGINIA MARY (Vera) née Frendo, widow of John, aged 85, passed away peacefully in Portsmouth, England on Sunday, November 14. She leaves to mourn her loss her daughter Brenda Swift, and her son Eric and his wife Gill, her grandchildren Dale, Debbie and her husband Ben Strawbridge, Justine and her husband Ben Thompson, Louis, Tom and Katy, her great-granddaughter Raegan, her brother Hector and his wife Avril, other relatives and friends. Mass praesente cadavere will be said today at 10 a.m. at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery chapel, followed by interment in the family grave. No flowers by request, but donations to the Malta Dementia Society, University of Malta, will be appreciated.

On December 5, at Mater Dei Hospital, ROSE Ta’ Dedu, widow of the late Joseph, formerly from Valletta residing in Gżira, passed to eternal life with the Lord, aged 85, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She is deeply mourned by her children, who she adored, Margaret and her husband Edward, Josephine and her husband Leon, Vincent and Frankie, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in Malta and England and her nieces and nephews. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 2 p.m. for Mount Carmel parish church Gżira where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m. followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Fundraising concert
The Malta Confederation of Women’s Organisations, with the support of US Ambassador Douglas Kmiec, will be holding an awareness-raising event about the importance of fighting violence against women within the context of addressing gender equality in all sectors and at all levels of Maltese society.
