Separation cases pending for years
Of 269 long-pending cases of separation in Malta, 11 have been pending in the courts for more than 10 years, Justice Minister Carm Mifsud Bonnici told Silvio Parnis (PL) in reply to a parliamentary question.
The same can be said of three cases out of 28 in Gozo.
Of the rest, in Malta, 88 have been pending for one to four years, 36 four to five years, 46 five to six years, 41 six to seven years, 26 seven to eight years, 15 eight to nine years and six nine to 10 years.
In Gozo, 16 cases have been pending for one to four years, three four to five years, three five to six years, one six to seven years, one seven to eight years, none eight to nine years, and one nine to 10 years.

A problem with cases which take years to settle is that the "atti u verbali" can end up in such a state of disrepair that no one can make up heads or tails of the details. ie All evidence is lost.
In a particular case the courts themselves can not even tell who the main prosecutor was!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
