A bust of a former president of the teachers’ union was stolen from the Addolorata Cemetery this weekend.

The theft of the bust of Alfred Buhagiar, who headed the Malta Union of Teachers between 1949 and 1962, was condemned yesterday by the Health Ministry, which said it had instructed the police to investigate.

It is the second theft from the country’s main cemetery in a span of two weeks after a bronze monument dedicated to stillborn children was found missing on November 20.
