The Tourism Studies Association , a University student organisation representing students from the Institute of Tourism Travel and Culture, organised a seminar about ‘Agrotourism in Gozo’ between November 12 and 14.
Students who attended were given the opportunity to get a taste of initiatives being carried out.
The implementation of agrotourism was discussed during a talk given by Gozo Tourism Authority secretary Joe Muscat.
During this seminar, students also participated in onsite excursions. At the Ager Foundation, students gained insight into the running of a farm, where they also milked sheep and made cheeselets.
At Ta’ Mena, students toured the vineyard and orchards, and were treated to a wine tasting session.
Tourism is one of the largest contributors to the Maltese economy, and in order for it to continue to grow sustainably, the island’s product portfolio must be iversified to entice more visitors.
