Healthy lifestyle day

St Benedict College Safi Primary School recently organised a Healthy Lifestyle Day in conjunction with the Home Economics Seminar Centre and the Health and Safety Unit within the Directorates of Education.

The activity aimed to outline the fact that people’s behavioural patterns are often set in early life and influence their health throughout their lives. Infancy, childhood and adolescence are critical stages in the development of people’s health in later years.

The Home Economics Seminar Centre organised various activities regarding healthy breakfasts, lunches, and other good eating habits. The activities targeted all age groups and included the delivery of Powerpoint presentations, interactive quizzes, and hands-on sessions facilitated by home economics teacher Mariella Farrugia.

Health and safety teachers Yvette Ebejer and Omar Schembri conducted workshops focusing on safety on the internet, at home and on the road.

Activities also included an intercultural event put up by the Malta Children Day Festival organisers. The session was entitled ‘Safe in Different Cultures’ andfocused on Chinese culture and traditions.

The local pharmacist also invited school staff and parents for a free medical check up.
