Political shopping spree
On December 2 the local council of Valletta was invited to the opening of a certain grocery establishment. To tell the truth, it has been renovated superbly.
The Prime Minister was the first to enter and I must admit I spent ages looking for the Leader of the Opposition but it was all in vain. I quickly assumed that Joseph Muscat had not been invited.
The first words were spoken by the owner himself, who went out of his way to praise the Prime Minister. Quite frankly, I couldn’t shake off the feeling that this was like a Nationalist meeting. As if Labourites don’t shop there as well! Then it was the Prime Minister’s turn to speak and he put me off by praising the fact that one could see his Parliament project from the second floor.
An evening like this should have been held at The Granaries at Floriana not inside this establishment. And although Dr Muscat does not live in Valletta, I am sure he would have said a few words of praise for the capital city and the establishment. Big shots have and will always look down on Labourites. Pity, because Labourites go shopping as well.

Joseph has a habit of skipping such events. Perhaps he preferred to have a hamburger at the Mcdonalds.

This is a private place....so attendance was obviously by invitation. I would assume like you that Joseph was not invited. I am sure he would have shown up if he were, politicians never miss an opportunity to face the cameras and it is said they get an orgasm when they see a microphone.. In a democratic country like ours, people have every right to invite whoever they want, so selectivity in invitations doesn't strike me as odd.

Political Party politics at their best ........ this is the sort of thing that sickens me in this God forsaken Island of ours, every innocent occasion is turned into a political party outing!
When do we learn? never is my guess as party politics of both colours are so embedded in our system, and our blood!
