I have no doubt whatsoever regarding Ronald Cuschieri’s promise that when the embellishment project is carried out on the Paola roundabout the end result will be much better than what it was before (November 29). Hopefully, his letter also sets our minds at rest that Environment Landscape Consortium does not “indiscriminately chop trees” or “let people loose with chainsaws”, although you cannot blame people who start wondering about the kind of pruning being done lately on trees in towns and villages.
In fact, what I would say is “nothing short of disgusting”, as described by John Carmel Navarro in his letter of November 24 regarding this matter, is the daily traipsing through this roundabout by groups of adolescent students from a nearby school who take short-cuts (?) to the bus stop on the other side of the road, unbelievably ploughing a path through the middle of the roundabout and this when a crossing with traffic lights is metres away up the road! I have noticed this happening several times while driving through this busy thoroughfare.
Is it possible the residents living nearby or some lawful authority driving by failed to notice this almost daily occurrence? Hopefully, this egoistic practice will be discontinued when the place is landscaped as described by Dr Cuschieri.
