Work was supposed to have started on the Ċirkewwa ferry terminal more than a year ago. The area is walled in but there is no sign of any activity going on. Furthermore, in next year’s Budget there has been no allocation for any estimated expenditure so far as one can see. In the meantime, passengers disembarking from the ferry have to make a long circuitous walk round the walled-in area to board the buses. It is the same for passengers boarding the ferry.

It would appear there are no funds to build this terminal to complement the one at Mġarr, which is a shame because the present set-up is very unwelcome to say the least, with no proper shelter for waiting passengers exposed to extreme weather conditions.

However, at least, the passengers disembarking or embarking should be allowed for the time being to cut through the enclosed area as it was in the olden days. Furthermore, temporary shelter could be provided in the same way that it was at Mġarr before the very welcome terminal was opened.
