Bayern Munich’s France star Franck Ribery revealed yesterday he has buried the hatchet with coach Louis van Gaal ahead of tomorrow’s Bundesliga clash with struggling Schalke 04.
Ribery and Van Gaal had a public falling out after the Dutch coach criticised the Frenchman in the German media for a lacklustre display in a friendly game, organised to help him regain his fitness.
The 27-year-old Ribery replied by saying he wished his coach had discussed the matter in private.
Ribery says relations were restored during Munich’s recent 3-2 defeat at Roma in the Champions League before he played all of the 90 minutes in Bayern’s 4-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt last Saturday in the German league.
“Before the game in Rome, I had a long talk with him (Van Gaal),” said Ribery.
“We talked a lot, and that’s important.
“You have to talk if you work together and want to have success, whether it is negative or positive.”
