Firms employing more than 250
In 2009 there were 67 firms in Malta and one in Gozo employing more than 250 people each, Finance Minister Tonio Fenech told Labour MP Anton Refalo in reply to a parliamentary question.
Dr Refalo had asked for such details for the years from 2000. The number of such firms in Malta in 2000 had started out at 55, fluctuating to a peak of 68 in 2007.
In Gozo there had been two firms in 2000 and 2001, but since 2002 there had been only one firm employing more than 250 people.
