Marsovin has released its sixth vintage of 1919. The brand was first created in 2004, when Debbie Caruana Dingli first painted the first set of labels for the brand. Since then Kenneth Zammit Tabona, Denise Borg Milo, Catherine Cavallo and Andrew Diacono have given his or her own interpretation to the concept, “the culture of wine”.
This year Marsovin selected Andrew Micallef for the 2009 vintage.
The theme for the paintings was Maltese vineyards.
Mr Micallef visited Marsovin vineyards in Marsaxlokk and used those vines as his subject. He said that he felt honoured to have been chosen as the artist to paint the sixth edition of 1919 paintings.
1919 is made up of two wines, a red made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Gellewza and Shiraz, of which only 10,080 bottles have been produced. Alternatively, a white wine made from Chardonnay and Girgentina, of which only 5,440 bottles have been produced.
These wines are available for tasting through the Marsovin cellars.
