SINJURA Mary Ann Borg. Fis-snien sebghin meta telgha fil-gvern il-Labour Party, Mintoff lanqas kellu flus biex ihallas l-impjegati tal-gvern. Minn taht in-nazzjonalisti, il-labour dejjem wiret pajjiz marid. Din id-darba marid b`marda terminali -iktar serja mis-snien 70s. Dak iz-zmien imn`Alla kien Gaddafi li ta il-flus lill-Mintoff ghax l-ommorogija ta' nies lejn l-Awstralja kienet tizdied. Fis-snin 70s il-petrol ghola 400% u grazzi ghal GaDDAFI li taghna fuel bl-irhis. Illum li dhalna fl-Ewropa u tant ahna bullijiet li tal-PN qed ikkisser -poplu Malti u qed juzaw li-prezz tal-petrol bhala arma poltika-ekonomika biex ikkolhom x`jiehdu go buthom minn fuq dahar il-fidilji. Ma nafx kemm dan il-pajjiz ha jibqgha gwejjed u bahnan. Fil-qafas tal-krizi ekonomika tas-snin 70s giet mahluqa l-Air Malta u l-isstutturi kollha finanzjari li dan il-gvern bla misthiha ta` xejn kisser u farrak. Ghax dak iz-zmien Mintoff kien immur il-Libya u ttina il-miljuni tar regim kienu jaghjruh li qed jittallab. Illum qed immorru l-EU u ittina bil-qamel u l-guh. Sewwa kien jghid Mintoff-Ewropa ta' Abel u kajjin!!!!!!!!

I've noted . . . and my disgust only continues to increase! What next . . . 'Gieh ir-Repubblika' to Mister Ghaddafi for making a token gesture pretending to do something about the droves of illegal immigrants that are leaving from Libya's shores . . . possibly with the aid and blessing of some of their Authorities? @Victor Vella - Financial structures? Don't even joke about it. If you had a little bit of reasoning, you could see that since PN has been in Government, things have improved a lot.
Please don't go comparing those days with today, it only makes your argument ridiculous.

That said, I'm not satisfied with the current Government, at all.
As to Col Gadafi helping out...first you'll have to overcome my doubt.

You have to excuse me when I doubt the genuine kindness and generosity when this same person is threatening the EU (and indeed Malta) with purposefully sending illegal immigrants.

Secondly, I'm not really sure we accomplished anything with his cheap fuel and money. The last major improvements I've seen where those left to us by the British during the war. Impressive considering that's almost a 70 years ago.

Mintoff and KMB were dictators enough to change the law so that the opposition party will be in government.
At least we knew what was going on. In many democratic countries everything is being done in the name of democracy and at one point in time look at Greece; look at Ireland and look wherever you like right wing are like cancer you feel ok while the government is eating you body and soul from inside.

Bill Millam You from the USA dare to talk about human rights when the USA is the worst violator of any human rights throughout the world? What about the death penalty in the USA Bill? Pray tell us about it. What about the illegal; invasions, covert operations in other countries to topple their legitimate elected governments Bill? What cheek coming from someone from the USA!!!!!!!!

Although Libya is not a heaven on earth for human rights, wikileaks show that other democratic countries abuse these rights too.

@Pat Muscat, why do you have to defend Libya so much? The fact that other countries somehow fail in democracy doesn't justify what Libya does

A former lecturer of mine had once told us that the University gave some kind of honourary degree to Ceausescu's wife, for a paper or something which she had written. It wasn't her who wrote it, of course.

The Turks are getting a bit fed up with the ambivalent stance of the other EU members, which changes with each election. Having said that, they still have a way to go, and it's ironic that it's a religious (Muslim) party that is tackling some of the more objectionable aspects of Turkish law (such as the role of the army).

Nick you should be ashamed of yourself writing these words on Dr Mifsud Bonnici. He certainly deserve better. Please let us show some respect and think well before writing.

Actually you're right Nick. It is shameful to see an educated man like KMB participate in an event like this especially considering that Turkey has in some cases violated the rights of Kurds living in its country.
