Dalli speaks of Brussels term as 'four year sentence'
Former Minister John Dalli has described his current stint at European Commissioner as a ‘four year sentence’ which will soon end.'
He reportedly made his comments to a number of Maltese journalists in Brussels.
The former Minister of Finance and later Minister of Social Policy said he is closely following developments in Malta and feels he has more to contribute to the political scene once his term as commissioner ends.
He did not give a clear answer, however, over whether he would return to the hustings.
Mr Dalli said he visits Malta frequently and has meetings with people to guage the political situation.
Mr Dalli is currently commissioner responsible for health and consumer affairs.

@ maria vella..............My dear lady....it's not a matter to keep calm or not,but you have to be capabable and admit distinctions between Prime Ministers and countries....i.e Is Malta in the economic situation like Spain,Portugal,United Kingdom,Ireland and Greece? They all have prime ministers!!!!!!!!!!

What a cheek, I cannot believe it. I think all of us would want a '4-year sentence' like these, after which you will be a millionnaire.
I bet he will get a slap for this comment and then he will try to get it back with the excuse that he was wrongly interpreted.
Move on John

Few, if any, prisoners have the privilege to give their consent and choose their cell when sentenced.

I wonder what is-sur Dalli will say once his "four-year sentence" ends, and he starts receiving the 11,000 euros monthly allowance that ex-commissioners receive for precisely doing nothing. ETERNAL HELL maybe?

@A. Attard and others
Mr Dalli Is a TRUE Nationalist. A Nationalist is a person who loves and works for the nation (the people) and his country. This cannot be said of the GonziPN circle. Malta badly needs atrue Nationalist Government.
Looking forward for your return Mr. Dalli.

It is inconceivable but tru that such a hugely able and competent man can be such a bad and sour loser. Enough Mr. Dalli. Move on. Certainly the pay as a Commissioner will enable you to do so in style. With these remarks you prove right the persons who did not chose you as a PN leader.

Mr Dalli has alot to offer to maltese politics and the way he was stabbed at the back reminds me of Brutus and Caeser.

I had full respect for John Dalli until he started giving the green light to GMOs. I still can't understand what made him do such a dangerous stupidity.

I have been under the impression that Mr. Jojn Dalli had shown interest to his post at Brussels,
Sure after four years he would be welcome in the party and his experience woould be fruitful to all Malta

Comm. Dalli should be ashamed of himself to speak in that manner.
If he wasn't happy to go to Brussels, he shouldn't have accepted it.
His words will not ring well with the people in Brussels - he gives one the feeling that he is Commissionere much against his will, which does not augur well for his work.
I am sure that both during as well as after this so-called 'sentence' of his, he is going to benefit a lot, much more than what those usually spending 'sentences' do.
Dalli needs to get over his not having been elected as Party Leader. He needs to move on. But really move on. We all do, whatever the injustices we think that we may have received.

We surely need him back in Malta. He was doing an excellent job on abuses of social services. Now this ministry has returned back to the minister who created the problem herself before John Dalli took responsability.
