• The Astra Folk Group will today be organising Folkgħabex – an international folk festival – to commemorate its 40th anniversary. The festival will start with a parade around the main streets of Victoria at 9.30 a.m., starting from St Augustine Square, followed by a re-enactment of a traditional wedding at St George’s Square. Folk groups from Italy, the Czech Republic and Portugal, together with the Astra Folk Group, will take part in a show at 7.30 p.m.

• A blood donation will be held at Joe Tabone Hall, Nadur council, today between 8.30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

• A Christmas market by theVictoria council will be held at St George’s Square, Victoria, from today to next Sunday.

• The Milied fix-Xagħra society, with the collaboration of Xagħra council, will be organising a seminar about the construction of cribs at the Xagħra Youth Centre today between 9.30 a.m. and noon.

• The Gozo Seminary will present FBI, a comedy directed by Fr Joseph Bajada and Doris Grech, at the seminary, Victoria, today at 7 p.m. Booking from the seminary, Gozo parish offices or by calling 2155 6470/7928 4473.

• Nanny Mcphee and the Big Bang will be screened at the Don Bosco Oratory, Victoria, today at 5.30 p.m.

• The Ladies’ Circle of the Sacred Heart Seminary will be organising its monthly coffee morning on Thursday at 9 a.m. in the main hall of the Catholic Action centre. Tickets at €3 can be obtained from members or from the school.

• The Gozo Bird Breeders Society will be organising a bird show at the Gozo Sports Complex in Victoria on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. There will also be an aquarium and plant show.

• The annual lunch by the Xagħra Scout Group will be held at Crystal Palace, Marsalforn, next Sunday at 12.30 p.m. For bookings call 9922 1449 or 9943 3442.

• The international day for people with disabilities will be marked on Friday. Arka Foundation will be holding a Mass by Gozo Bishop Mario Grech at Ta’ Pinu Sanctuary next Sunday at 11.15 a.m., followed by a reception for people with disabilities and their families at Ta’ Pinu Hall.

• The Gozitan Graduates Movement will be holding First Friday Mass at St Augustine church, Victoria, on Friday at 8 p.m. The sacrament of reconciliation will be available before Mass.

• The Bethel Charismatic Group will be holding a prayer meeting at the church of Our Lady ofPompeii, Victoria, on Saturdayat 7 p.m.

• The diocesan Eucharistic Movement will hold a prayer evening at St Anthony the Abbott church, Xaghra, on Saturday at 8 p.m., followed by Mass at midnight.

• A Christmas market by Nadur council will be held under a tent at St Peter and St Paul Square from Friday to next Sunday. Items for sale will include toys, crafts, cakes, flower arrangements, books and food. Special guests will include Cash and Band, Spectrum, Fortissimo Band and David Azzopardi.

• The nativity village in Għajnsielem will open on Friday and will be animated on December 4, 11 and 18 from 4.30 to 9 p.m.; December 5, 8, 12, 13, 19, 26 and January 2 between 2 and 7 p.m.; on Christmas and New Year’s Day between 3.30 and 8 p.m.

• A crib by Aaron Agius will be on show at the Banca Giuratale, Independence Square, Victoria, from Thursday to January 2 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
