Sarah Borg, of Birkirkara, has won the Youth of the Year award, organised by the OASI Foundation at Hotel Ta’ Ċenċ in Sannat.

Ms Borg, who was presented with the award by President George Abela, was nominatedby Grupp Flimkien Naslu forher voluntary work among the disabled.

Ms Borg, a primary school teacher, was singled out not only for the help and support she gives to these people in their day-to-day activities but also by enabling and empowering them to believe in themselves and be part and parcel of the community.

Ms Borg was described by the group as an all-rounder, helping whenever the need arises.

Nine young people, eight from Malta and one Gozitan, qualified for the award.

All nominees were presented with a certificate and a commemorative trophy by the foundation’s director general, Fr Manuel Cordina.
