The Gozo branch of the Malta Red Cross Society found its office doors locked yesterday after it was suspended, following a decision taken at the recent annual general meeting.
In a short press release, the Malta Section said the decision was taken in a meeting on November 18 but did not explain why.
When contacted, Gozo branch secretary Etienne Micallef said their officials had not been given any reason but found themselves locked out of their Xewkija offices by private security guards.
Inside the premises are four ambulances, two boats, a rescue vehicle and other equipment which, he stressed, had been bought through donations by Gozitans.
