A couple from Attard yesterday demanded to know what measures the Malta Resources Authority had taken to ensure their safety after it allowed a neighbour to install a 1,000-litre gas tank in his front garden.

The demand was made in a judicial protest filed by Carmelo Grech and his wife Josephine.

The gas tank is also the subject of criminal proceedings against Jonathan Camilleri Bowman who stands charged with ignoring an order to remove the tank, installed below ground.

The couple yesterday said the tank was only installed thanks to a permission granted by the MRA. Furthermore, in the criminal proceedings against the neighbour, it had emerged that Mr Camilleri Bowman had planning permission to build a water reservoir but not a gas tank, the couple said.

The Grechs gave the regulator one week to release all the necessary and objectively verifiable measures that were taken to safeguard any possible damage to their property.
