Mepa has issued a stop and enforcement notice after dumping of debris was reported at Tal-Muxi, near Qala.

The Prime Minister said in remarks in Parliament that Mepa had investigated the reports of dumping at Tal-Muxi, close to a quarry. Investigations had taken some time until the Authority identified the owners of the land and the company responsible for the dumping.

The stop and enforcement notice was eventually issued against Joymar Ltd as the owners of the land, and Road Construction Ltd, whose trucks were reported to have been responsible for the dumping.

The land where the dumping took place was not government land and it was outside the limits of the nearby quarries, Dr Gonzi said

He said the stop and enforcement notice also covered damage caused to rubble walls in the area.
