Sunday, November 7, 2010 will be remembered as a red-letter day in the annals of St Julians Band Club.
On the occasion of the feast of St Cecilia, patron of musicians, celebrated annually by the Association of Band Clubs, this year being the association’s 25th anniversary, it decided to hold a commemorative concert in collaboration with St Julians Band Club.
St Julians Band Club, in welcoming wholeheartedly the invitation, rose magnificently to the occasion. It worked with the association and helped to organise the concert at the Manoel Theatre with great enthusiasm.
The organisation was impeccable.
President George Abela honoured us, the organisers, the talented musicians, the packed house and, last but not least, the band conductor, Manoel Pirotta, with his presence.
It is not possible in this short note to mention in detail all those who helped and deserve our thanks for such a successful evening: the organising committee, the many sponsors, the musicians and many others who worked unobtrusively.
But one must definitely congratulate Mro Pirotta for the 14 excerpts, which he chose to include in the concert programme, two of which were band hymns.
The efforts put in by the committee in organising so successfully such an enjoyable and memorable evening will motivate St Julians Band Club to hold further musical activities the St Julians residents will be looking forward to.
