The police have launched an investigation after a break-in at Xghajra council offices overnight.

Mayor Anthony Valvo said the missing items include computers, tools, generators and a printer.

He said the break-in was discovered by the council secretary who found the door had been forced open and the offices ransacked.

Mr Valvo said this break-in had come just a couple of weeks after a break-in at the scouts quarters in Della Grazia Battery, where equipment worth some €1,000 including musical instruments, was stolen.

He condemned both burglaries.

A police forensics team was on site this morning as part of the investigations.
