A group of 35 volunteers aged between 16 and 26, who helped children attending Klabbsajf 2010, were recently awarded certificates as a token of recognition for their involvement.

The volunteers came from different institutions such as Mcast, University, the Institute for Tourism Studies, and secondary and post-secondary schools.

This year, 76 children attended Klabbsajf. The aim was to promote inclusion among children and volunteers. Including people with mixed abilities helped the group be aware of each other’s potential and it was also beneficial to the children and increased their awareness about diversity. Klabbsajf was organised by Appoġġ Cottonera Community Services in collaboration with Aċċess Community Resource Centre in Vittoriosa, St Margaret College and the Foundation for Educational Services.

Klabbsajf offers an alternative community for children during the summer holidays. Volunteers were trained in planning and facilitation skills. Their role was to help in the caring of children attending under supervision of staff. They also planned, prepared and held activities.
