1,000 trees planted at Salina this weekend
Some 1,000 trees have been planted so far at Salina grove in a tree-planting weekend which opened on Friday with visits by schoolchildren.
Members of the public are being invited to visit to the extension of the Salina park, where they can adopt and plant a tree, for €14. The tree will then be cared for by the Parks Unit. Each tree will bear the name of its sponsor.
Resources Minister George Pullicino welcomed visitors at the park yesterday and this morning. He said that 95,000 trees were planted over the past five years and it was hoped that the 100,000th tree would be planted this year.
He also thanked companies which are involving themselves in the tree-planting schemes.

What about the 5000 fruit trees at Nadur that are going to be ruined with the blessing of the Malta Resources Authorate? before we can benefit greatly from fruit trees it takes years and years.

I would like to thank the ministry for planting 3 trees in honor of my father, grand-mother & grandfather after they passed away.

I wish P.A.R.K and the 34U campaign a fulfilling future. Can the Addolorata cemetery be part of their brief. The place cries out for a good landscaping and their headquarters is just around the corner.

I wonder how long these trees will last in the face of the mindless vandalism all over the place in Malta - where even grave yards are targets for vandals?

Calm down Mr Oatman.
The vandalised trees are only a very small fraction of what we have managed to plant and grow during the last years.
Some graves have been vandalised but unlike many other contries those buried there are not a result of the high crime.
So do not portray us Maltese in such a bad light as your negative attitude has you do.

Dear Mr Ebejer. Can't you bear someone else's opinion (which was mainly true) without being offensive and almost racist?
