1,000 trees planted at Salina this weekend

Some 1,000 trees have been planted so far at Salina grove in a tree-planting weekend which opened on Friday with visits by schoolchildren.

Members of the public are being invited to visit to the extension of the Salina park, where they can adopt and plant a tree, for €14. The tree will then be cared for by the Parks Unit. Each tree will bear the name of its sponsor.

Resources Minister George Pullicino welcomed visitors at the park yesterday and this morning. He said that 95,000 trees were planted over the past five years and it was hoped that the 100,000th tree would be planted this year.

He also thanked companies which are involving themselves in the tree-planting schemes.

Calm down Mr Oatman.

The vandalised trees are only a very small fraction of what we have managed to plant and grow during the last years.

Some graves have been vandalised but unlike many other contries those buried there are not a result of the high crime.

So do not portray us Maltese in such a bad light as your negative attitude has you do.

Dear Mr Ebejer. Can't you bear someone else's opinion (which was mainly true) without being offensive and almost racist?
