A group of 31 entities is taking part in the European week for waste reduction, which opened yesterday and will continue until next Sunday.

The activity, which is supported by the European Commission’s Life+ programm, aims to inform European citizens about the simple actions they can take in everyday life to help contribute to waste reduction efforts.

Taking part are Xagħra council, Malta Evironment and Planning Authority, Gozo Ministry, San Lawrenz council, Lions Club Sliema, Resources and Rural Affairs Ministry, Greenhouse Organisation;

RM2000 Lil Ħbiebna, XFM 100.2, thecodetv.tv, Ġan Franġisk Abela Junior College, St Benedict’s College Girl’s Junior Lyceum, St Margaret College Boys Secondary Verdala, St Thomas More Fgura Primary A, De La Salle College, St Nicholas College;

Baħrija Primary School, St Benedict College Safi Primary, St Ġorġ Preca College Poala Primary A, San Anton School, St Francis Primary School Cospicua;

Immaculate Conceptio School Tarxien, Chiswick House School, St Benedict’s College Girls Secondary, St Clare College Girl’s Secondary School;

Agius De Soldanis School, St Thomas More Girls Secondary, Mary Portelli (in collaboration with Xagħra council);

Elisa Anderetti (in collaboration with the University of Malta), Airport Impressions, and Iklin parish church.

The first edition last year was a huge success: it involved the implementation of 2,672 actions across Europe by 20 organisers in 10 countries.

This year 28 public authorities in 15 European countries aretaking part.
