Strengthening equality beyond legislation

The National Commission for the Promotion of Equality (NCPE) has embarked on a new initiative entitled ‘Strengthening Equality Beyond Legislation’.

The initiative is supported by the EU, with co-funding through Progress 2007-2013.

The NCPE has organised a competition to raise awareness about the need for equality in schools, promoting equality and anti-discrimination on six grounds: age, disability, sexual orientation, race and religion, as well as gender. This competition is targeting secondary schools.

The aim of this competition is to promote educational responsibility by highlighting all initiatives taken by secondary schools that aim to promote equal opportunities, creating a more inclusive environment, promoting diversity and enhancing dialogue in order to improve the quality of life of students at an educational level.

Three awards will be presented to the winners: first prize will be €450 worth of books and book vouchers; second prize will be worth €300 and third prize will be worth €250.
