Mintoff ‘gradually’ getting better

Former Prime Minister Dom Mintoff’s medical condition has continued to improve gradually but he remains critical, according to the latest update from Mater Dei Hospital.

The medical team is satisfied with the response to treatment being shown by Mr Mintoff.

The 94-year old former Labour Party leader was out of bed for the first time on Wednesday after a week in intensive care at the Critical Coronary Care Unit.

He was admitted to hospital on November 10 suffering from heart failure and dehydration. This was his second admission in less than two months.
