Media personalities in diversity installation in Valletta
An MZPN campaign stressing the importance of accepting diversity was held in Valletta this morning.
The youth group put up stick people at City Gate with messages to counter discrimination on the basis of race, sexual orientation, politics and religious beliefs. People were invited to put their faces into the figures to signify their acceptance and respect for messages such as I'm Black, I'm Muslim, or I will be voting Labour, among others.
A number of media personalities took part.

The worst part of these non-sensical comments is that probably none of the intelligent citizens commenting above have understood the message of inclusion, solidarity, and equal rights promoted through this event. I cannot see how such a noble initiative can be distorted to serve shallow political intentions.
Thumbs Up MZPN - Keep up the good work.

Where was MZPN when maltese university students let their racism show when Dr Alfred Sant took part in a debate and wasn't alllowed to be heard with their vociferous shouting and booing.I bet some of those sobs form part of the MZPN.
What a bunch of hypocrites.

Should I start apologizing for being perfectly happy to be white, Maltese, heterosexual, and Christian?

No, but maybe you should ask yourself why you are so cynical about something that is trying to promote equality in a country that is increadibly racist and homophobic. And perhaps if you were to patricipate in such events then you might send a message to those who know you that you do not tolerate any form of discrimination, unless you are part of the problem.

I would like to know who these media personalities were. I don't see why I should agree whole heartly with what somebody else believes or agree with someones lifestyle! If someone chooses to live an alternative lifestyle why should the rest of society agree! If everybody agreed with everybody then politics would not exist! It is important to respect a person regardless of what he or she believes, but one does not have to agree to it!

If we had to go by what certain TV presenters, try to make us belief, that if for example my daughter came home with a criminal, who happens to be muslim, black and bisexual, i should be happy !!!dream on. we all know how much money these people make because we are stupid enough to watch them on TV. I would really like to see it happen to one of theirs, and see them smile .

Idiotic and banal to say the least! If these folk truly belief - as they claim - that " It's OK to be me" then why should they interfere and hold such a charade? If they want us to believe the same things they do, then they should have added : and it's ok to be you as long as you think like me!"
I smell a rat here! If it is truly ok to be me, then I have a right to hold views contrary to yours, including your views about diversity et cetera. There is no need to patronize me into converting to your beliefs. I am convinced and will not convert since I truly believe and feel that I'm ok. End of story.

Converting to your beliefs? Where on Earth did you get that from? No one is asking you to convert to anything. This is not about changing people's religion or race, it s about changing people's attitude towards others who are different. There is nothing wrong with promoting equality. I imagine you are in favour of equality, are you not?

What rubbish. Isn't there more important stuff that needs to be discussed, like how to stop Malta sliding into an economic depression, or how to keep Maltese society from fragmenting and falling apart? Malta is turning into a tourist theme park, and our culture is dying, but all this government can do is pull pathetic stunts and find new and interesting ways to humiliate the Maltese people and damage our heritage.

MZPN u MNPN (jekk ghadu jezisti) l-aktar zew sezzjonijiet baghtuti fi hdan il-PN. X'jahsbu l-MZPN dwar id-Divorzju? F'diversita biss fuq il-posters meta fost l-ohrajn bhalissa ghaddejja diskriminazzjoni ma nies MALTIN separati li qed jitwarbu meta l-awtoritajiet qas biss jirikonoxxux li hemm problema. X'jahsbu MZPN dwar dan? Jew waqt certu attivitajiet moda biss li nsemmu diskriminazzjoni ta' Razza u religjon biex taparsi nidru ftit moderni.

Stupid and void event indeed! A PN MP claiming he will vote PL; a Muslim saying he is Catholic!!!! Do you honestly believe such an event could occur in a Muslim country??? And another thing; in my opinion the local media personalities are getting involved in so many different, yet frequent programmes that they are constantly becoming unbearable to watch! And that includes also the local TV drama; same 'actors' every single day doing a sort of Musical Chairs on different stations!

Agreed. Hawn Malta nitkelmu fuq Diversivita izda kif insibu ftit poter nehlu mieghu u ma natux opportunitajiet lil nies godda bi ftit riskju. Ghalekk ser nibqghu minn hafna aspetti maghluqin filwaqt li talent varju jinhela u naprezzawh biss jekk b'sogru personali, min jkun javanza f'pajjizi ohra.
Punt iehor hafna jitkelmu dwar riabilitazzjoni ta ex-criminali fis-socjeta li hi xi haga tajba. Izda l-Vitma (Qrati Criminali / tal-familja ecc) dejjem baqghat minsijha mis-Socjeta Maltija jew ghar minn hekk uzata biss ghas-skop tas-sistema.

" I'm Black, I'm Muslim, or I will be voting Labour, among others.". This is a free democratic country and if you are qualified to vote you are Very Free to cast your vote for whichever party you choose. But please let me make my own choices, I am a big boy and I don't like anybody telling me who to vote for or who to like. That is my belief. You cannot force anybody to like somebody if you choose not to.This is a personal matter and it is up to every individual to like or dislike whomever he/she wants. I don't have to vote for any party, I don't have to love my neighbour, I don't have to like gays, I don't have to go to mass on Sundays etc etc. The way I see it, I don't have to do or like anybody because somebody else tells me to. You have no right to force me to counter discrimination on the basis of race, sexual orientation, politics and religious belief because that is my right to choose. You don't have to like my views but I still have the right to choose, that is my democratic right.
