Obituary

MUSCAT. On November 18, CARMELA (Carrie), aged 67, passed away peacefully at Mater Dei Hospital, comforted by the rites of the Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her great loss her husband John, her children, Lawrence and his wife Eleanor, Tyrone and his wife Sandra, her grandchildren Ethan Warren, Leah Rianne and Jake, her brother James and his wife Beatrice, her sister Rose and her husband Paul, her in-laws, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow for Christ the King parish church, Paola, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.30 a.m. followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza will be appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

SPITERI. On November 17, BARTOLOMEO, of Għargħur, aged 52, passed away suddenly comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Maria Assunta, his beloved son Luke, his sisters Ġuża, Jane and her husband Allan Ricks of Australia, Doris, his brother Leli and his wife Mary, and his other sister Sr Rita of the Dominican Sisters, his mother-in-law Maria Vassallo and brother-in-law Fr Joseph Vassallo of the Dominican Order, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 3 p.m. for St Bartolomeo parish church, Għargħur, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 3.30 p.m. followed by interment at the family grave at the Għargħur cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

SPITERI. On November 15, in San Francisco, EMANUEL of Ħamrun, aged 84, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his daughters Joyce and her husband Fred, Rita and her ­husband Pacifico and Lourdes and her husband Alfred, his grandchildren, his sisters Carmen, Mary and Emily and their families, his sister-in-law Theresa, in-laws, other relatives and friends. The funeral takes place today in San Francisco. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

STAINES. On November 18, at Mater Dei Hospital, MAY, née Bonello of Kappara, San Ġwann, aged 76, passed away peacefully after a long illness patiently borne, comforted by the rites of Holy Mother Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her beloved husband Robert (Bob) and her children Susan and husband John Farrugia, Ann and husband Paul Galea, Nicholas and wife Corinne, and Pippa and her husband Leslie Brooks, together with grandchildren Stefanie and husband Edward, Nicola and husband Jean Paul, Peter, Fr Robert, Rachel, Joseph, Edward and David. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 1.30 p.m. for San Ġwann parish church where Mass will be said at 2 p.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Malta Hospice Movement, Balzan, are appreciated. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

TURRELL. On November 10, at Medway Maritime Hospital, Kent, LILY, of Mosta, aged 85, passed away peacefully. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Ken, her children, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Burial will take place in Kent.

VASSALLO. On November 16, MARTHA, aged 92, passed away peacefully at St Vincent de Paul residence, comforted by the rites of the Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her great loss her children, Joe and his wife Hilda, Evelyn and her husband Paul Zammit, Hilda and her husband Freddie Decelis, her grandchildren and their spouses, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St Vincent de Paul residence tomorrow at 8 a.m. for St Venera parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.30 a.m. followed by ­interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

Telephone service

Due to planned cable network maintenance by Go to further improve the telephone service, customers residing in parts of Birkirkara will have their telephone service temporarily disrupted today. Go apologised for any inconvenience caused by the works and said it would be doing its utmost to have the service back to normal in the shortest time possible.

Rosary recital

A rosary recital will be held near the cross on Borg in-Nadur Hill in Birżebbuġa today and tomorrow at 7 p.m. It will be dedicated to the conversion of priests and families and to protect the country against the introduction of divorce.

Power cuts

There will be power cuts tomorrow as follows:

8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in part of Mdina Road and Dun Bartilmew Attard Street in Żebbuġ.

8.30 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Caraffa Gregorio Street, Għajn Qasab Street, Ir-Ramla l-Ħamra Street and surrounding areas in Nadur.

2.30 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Il-Ġnejna Street, part of Ta’ Karkar Street, Mannar Street, Ġnien Xibla Street, Komettiva Street, Għajn Qamar Street and the surrounding areas in Xagħra.

Arts and crafts exhibition

Art and crafts students of the Malta Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce will hold an exhibition between November 26 and December 7 at Palazzo De La Salle, 219, Republic Street, Valletta.

Opening hours are between 9.30 a.m. and 1 p.m. and from 4.30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Friday and 9.30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturdays.
