I refer to Theodore Sammut’s letter A Government That Just Does Not Seem To Care (November 15).
Mr Sammut seeks information on why households that include one person who benefits from the energy benefit have not received the energy allowance. Indeed, as announced through an official press release on November 4, the energy allowance has been extended to the families Mr Sammut is referring to.
Thus, this allowance, which has been given to compensate for the increases in international oil prices, will also be given to persons in those families in which one or more of its members already receive the energy benefit. This means each family will receive €30 and €25 for each member of that same household who is not benefiting from the energy benefit. This extension will mean that 17,000 people will be receiving this additional support.
