The web solutions provider Icon is investing in product and technical innovation, research and development and additional human resources to assist the company to expand further locally and overseas.
The company, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary, was this evening visited by Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi, who said that IT was the best thing that had ever happened to Malta as physical boundaries were not an issue.
To celebrate its anniversary, the San Gwann company, which employs 25 web experts, has launched an application Icon.travel, which provides companies operating in the travel industry with an integrated web product that streamlines operations and allows services to be offered online.
Directors Gege Gatt and Ian Castillo emphasised that Icon’s success story demonstrated how home-grown local talent could flourish into a successful enterprise.
Dr Gatt said that research and development, product innovation and human resource capital were the three focal areas of an investment plan to ensure continued success and growth beyond Malta’s shores.
With an employee headcount of 25, the company continued to grow steadily throughout the financial crisis, maintaining and increasing staff levels, opening a satellite office in Milan while keeping other costs to a minimum with the aim of strengthening the company’s offering when business took an upturn.
The web development, business development and the core projects teams have been expanded to enable the company to achieve its main commercial objective of deploying two to three new and innovative products per year allowing the company to diversify into different fields.
Throughout the last 10 years, Icon developed novel web solutions to assist clients in achieving more through the use of web technology.
It was one of the first companies in Malta to understand the importance of web marketing and search engine optimisation as a way of providing customers with true return on their investment.
