Iva For Divorce committee chairman Deborah Schembri was quoted as saying the divorce law would contain a number of safeguards to ensure children were protected throughout the proceedings.

Here may I ask, “protected” from what? And how can anything “ensure” such fictitious “protection”? How can it be possibly imagined that children will be spared the pain of being told they no longer have parents?

Separated couples invariably claim their right to be called parents of their children. What happens if and when divorce destroys once and for all the children’s link with their parents? This new divorce committee should carefully follow the disasters that divorce has caused in other countries.

Dr Schembri is also reported to have said that “the movement was not objecting to the Church making its views heard”. Wake up! The Church has been making its views heard for a few centuries now and I would venture to suggest to this new Iva committee to refrain from dragging the Church into further discussions on this matter.
