A new label to promote fresh Maltese pork was launched today.
Resources Minister George Pullicino said that the Majjal ta’ Malta label was aimed at encouraging consumers to opt for fresh and genuine Maltese pork.
The label will appear on the product and as a sticker at shops selling Maltese pork.
The minister said the government and producers were working together to ensure that the pork industry remained sustainable.
Dr Oliver Frendo, General Manager of the Pork Breeders Association, said that consumers had a right to choose and this label would make it easier for them to differentiate between pork products.
The launching of the new label will be accompanied by a publicity campaign which will also include the distribution of recipies. www.majjaltamalta.com/
