Obituary

CUSCHIERI. On November 11, CARMELO, aged 86, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Odette, née Zammit, his son Ronald and his wife Maryann and their sons Christian and Gustav, his daughter Jacqueline and her husband Adrian and their sons Jacques and Henri, his son Claude and his wife Carmen and their sons Isaac and Adam, Nicholas and Alberta, son and daughter of his late daughter Marilyn, and their families, his brothers and sister and their respective families, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Karin Grech Hospital today at 2 p.m. for Gżira parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

MAGRO. On November 12, at Mater Dei Hospital, JOSEPH of San Ġwann, aged 86, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Tessie, his children Pauline and her husband Franco Sciberras, Nathalie and her husband Lino Buhagiar, Fr Patrick Magro, SJ, his grandchildren Nicole, Andrew, Lucia, Laura and Luigi, his nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 8.30 a.m. for San Ġwann parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9 a.m., followed by interment at St Paul’s Bay cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Malta Hospice Movement, Balzan, will be appreciated.

MICALLEF. On November 12, at Mater Dei Hospital, RENNIE of Ta’ Ġorni, aged 78, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his sister Rita and her husband Richard, his brothers Charles and his wife Elena and Hector and his wife Josephine, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 1.30 p.m. for Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery chapel where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2 p.m. followed by interment. PACE. On November 12, at Boffa Hospital, CARMEN of Qormi, (ex-teacher Qormi and Siġġiewi), aged 74, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her brother Joseph and his wife MariaLourdes, her sister Agnes and her husband Charles Mattocks, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 2.15 p.m. for St George’s parish church, Qormi, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 3 p.m., followed by interment at the Resurrection Cemetery, Qormi. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be appreciated.

Solidarity dinner

The Consulate of Pakistan will be holding a solidarity dinner to raise awareness on the needs of the victims of the recent earthquake in Pakistan.

The dinner will be under the patronage of President George Abela and the guests will include the Prime Minister, the Leader of the Opposition and other dignitaries.

It will be held at the Hotel Phoenicia Grand Ballroom, Floriana on November 16 commencing at 7.30 p.m.

A paper collection will be held during the dinner with all proceeds going towards the victims of the earthquake.

ALPS dinner

The Association of Lyceum Past Students ALPS will be holding the annual Yuletide dinner on December 3 at the Ballroom of the Grand Hotel Excelsior, Floriana. Those interested can contact Alex Borg on 2138 6812/9988 8579 or Robert Ferrante on 2144 4570/9989 8188.

Car boot sale

The Xagħra local council will be holding a car boot sale on November 21 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. in Victory Square. Participants are being asked to pay a nominal registration fee of €5 in aid of the publication of educational material on waste separation and the recycling process.

Power cuts

There will be power cuts tomorrow as follows: 8.30 to 11 a.m. in parts of Gudja and St Anthony streets in Għajnsielem and from 2.30 to 5 p.m. in Calypso Cave, Kaċċaturi, Calypso streets in Xagħra.

Blood donation

The mobile blood donation unit will be available for blood donation next to Baħrija Church, tomorrow, from 8.30 a.m. till 1.30 p.m.
