An earthquake having a magnitude of 3.8 occurred about 90 kilometres south of Malta at 4.43 a.m. yesterday, according to the University’s Seismic Monitoring & Research Unit.

Another small tremor occurred two days earlier at the same place at 8.22 a.m. Yesterday’s tremor was the larger of the two, seismologist Pauline Galea said.

The unit received no reports that any of the earthquakes were reported on the islands.
