Recent articles and letters in the newspapers have again drawn attention to the dire and rapidly deteriorating state of Malta’s groundwater resources.

In view of these well-publicised facts, it is incredible the government, instead of taking drastic action, allows the continued legal and illegal plunder and degradation of this vital national resource by private entities. And the opposition does not seem very interested either.
