I am not in the habit of writing laudatory letters to the press about our politicians. However, I feel I must laud Lawrence Gonzi for his gentlemanly behaviour when faced last Friday on Xarabank by Joseph Muscat’s very ill-mannered and fierce attack, repeatedly calling the Prime Minister a liar. Dr Gonzi did not even retaliate by asking Dr Muscat whether all he had said in his anti-EU campaign, including his notorious TV programme, Made In Brussels, his anti-euro campaign and also his anti-EU statements uttered in luckless Iceland, were all factual and true.

Dr Gonzi’s gentlemanly demeanour was in sharp contrast with the display of very bad manners put up by Dr Muscat. Well done Dr Gonzi!
