Ban rules Sliema’s Limaout of Floriana clash

Sliema Wanderers’ Brazilian midfielder Jackson Lima was handed a one-match ban yesterday after he collected his fourth yellow card in his side’s 4-0 league defeat to Valletta last Friday.

Lima’s suspension rules him out of Sliema’s Old Firm derby against Floriana on November 20.

Last week, Edison Carabay, of Vittoriosa Stars, was slapped with a two-match ban. The Brazilian midfielder, who has just recovered from injury, was punished after being sent off for hitting Joseph Zerafa in Vittoriosa’s 1-1 draw with Birkirkara.

Edison will miss Vittoriosa’s last two first-round matches against Marsaxlokk and Ħamrun Spartans.

Bello Osagie scoops award

Qormi forward Abubakar Bello Osagie is the BOV player of the month for October.

The Nigerian’s consistent performances throughout October saw him being named BOV player of the match in all three games played by Qormi.

Bello Osagie, whose only goal this season came in the 2-1 win over Tarxien, has made an instant impact for Qormi thanks to his speed, strength and agile dribbling.

Emily Grech, manager of BOV’s Qormi branch presented the player of the month trophy to Abu, as Bello Osagie is commonly known.
