Department store Harrods has unveiled an advent calendar billed as the most exclusive in the world and featuring a kitchen and a speedboat.

The US1 million (£618,000) calendar has been created by Porsche Design and is one of five available worldwide, one for each continent.

Harrods is displaying one in its flagship Knightsbridge store, although the designers have had to show an image of some of the larger items on illuminated plates. Three highlights include a Porsche Design Indicator Chronograph watch in rose gold, a designer kitchen and an 8.5 metre speedboat.

A pair of gold sunglasses, cufflinks and running shoes will also be revealed.

Harrods managing director Michael Ward said: “Harrods has long been associated with unveiling innovative and highly exclusive products and we are delighted to be welcoming Porsche Design’s unique advent calendar.”

Juergen Gessler, chief executive of the Porsche Design Group, said: “It is a great honour for us that world-famous department store Harrods in Knightsbridge is as enthralled by our advent calendar as we are and that this magnificent Porsche Design showpiece is going to be displayed there.”
