Former Malta forward Edward Aquilina has just agreed a loan deal with champions Neptunes Emirates.

Aquilina, who played for San Ġiljan Firetech last summer, still had a contract running with Sliema McDonald’s but opted to stay at Balluta Bay for the coming season by joining Neptunes for the next two years.

Club insiders told The Times that at the end of the two-year loan stint, Aquilina will make his stay at Neptunes permanent.

Meanwhile, Tamas Molnar is likely to play for Neptunes again next season. The Hungarian was instrumental in the Reds’ triumphant march to the league title this year. Talks are in an advanced stage and Molnar is now expected to pen a new deal soon.

Vladimir Vujasinovic also played for Neptunes in summer but his return to the Reds’ fold in 2011 still has to be confirmed as the club is keeping other options open vis-a-vis overseas recruitments.
