The Finance Ministry said this morning that the restructuring plan for Air Malta was still being drafted and reports which gave the impression that decisions had been taken on the future operations of the company and its workforce were only speculation.

"Speculation about figures can only serve to damage the quest for the best solutions for the company to return to the road of sustainability," the ministry said.

"This is a sensitive moment for Air Malta and the government is appealing for prudence and for an end to such speculation."
