I am looking forward to the bus system reform, although I cannot depend on the bus service as my work takes me around Malta. However, occasionally I do use the bus from St Paul’s Bay to Valletta or Sliema and back if I am not going anywhere else.

We need more bus shelters, that’s for sure. The reform should also be complemented by a massive educational campaign for drivers of all kinds of vehicles to respect the Highway Code, especially on giving way at roundabouts, stopping before entering a junction and double-parking in narrow roads.

Better sign language is needed for diversions, with indications of a detour if possible. Wardens should no longer be allowed to wait at roundabouts to book defaulters and, better still, bus stops and vendors should also be removed from roundabouts.

In the meantime, I wish Arriva and all involved the best of luck.
