Unemployment dropped by 11.5 per cent in September compared to the same month last year although it rose by one per cent over August this year, according to the National Statistics Office.

The number of registered unemployed totalled 5,980 in Malta and 675 in Gozo, declines of 771 and 95 respectively. The drops were observed across all age groups.

The unemployment rate, excluding part-timers, stood at five per cent of the labour supply in April. For men it was 5.8 per cent and 3.4 per cent for women.
