Inspectors from the Lands Department escorted by the police this morning started another round of evictions from the former barracks overlooking Golden Bay.
A spokesman said that 38 eviction notices were served last month for the properties near Manikata and the process to reclaim the government-owned properties started this morning.
There were no incidents, but some of the rooms were found to be locked, and one of the rooms had been torched.
The spokesman said that the rooms had been used for anything from summer houses to 'homes' for animals. Most were emptied after the eviction notices were served.
Other rooms were evicted last year.
