A 26-year old unemployed Bulgarian man damaged eight cars while he was drunk early yesterday, a court was told this morning.

Yasen Atanasov admitted to causing some €1,000 worth of damages to the cars parked along Triq it-Turisti before he was arrested. One of the cars belonged to a police inspector.

The damage consisted mostly of broken door mirrors and scratches.

The man was arrested on site.

He was condemned to a 15-month jail term suspended for four years and ordered to pay for the damages.

The man has already paid one of the car owners.
