An event entitled Niċċelebraw Flimkien is being organised by the Office of the Commissioner for Children at Verdala Palace, Buskett, next Sunday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
The event will mark the 20th anniversary since Malta ratified the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC).
This year, Malta has also ratified the Optional Protocol to the CRC on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography, as well as the convention on the protection of minors from sexual exploitation and pornography of the Council of Europe.
Various government departments and agencies which offer service to children in the health, education, social protection, sports and cultural sectors will be taking part by putting up information stands to inform the public of the different services available.
People visiting Niċċelebraw Flimkien will be able to visit Verdala Palace and its grounds. A special child-friendly information brochure about the palace is also being prepared by the Office of the Commissioner for Children.
Other activities will include a police dog show and a first-aid demonstration by young members of St John Ambulance. The Civil Protection Department will be bringing a fire engine to show children how it operates.
There will be an interactive puppet show by the Drama Unit, the Malta Girl Guides will be showing children how to set up a camp, a music performance is benig organised by music teachers, and the day will be brought to an end by In Guardia, who are preparing a special re-enactment for the occasion.
The Malta Sports Council and Għaqda Ħbieb tal-Presepju will be organising workshops and activities throughout the day.
