Gozo Day was marked on October 29 in remembrance of archpriest Saver Cassar, who ruled Gozo for 22 months after the defeat of the French forces on October 28, 1798. Schoolchildren took part in a play at Independence Square, Victoria, while Year 5 Victoria primary school choir sang Innu lil Għawdex, the Gozo College hymn and the national anthem.
